Shocking Footage Captures Point Law Enforcement Suffer Blade Attacks in Ambush
A senior officer who rushed to the assistance of a fellow officer who was ambushed by a knifeman has been awarded the Royal Recognition for Bravery.
Sergeant Tim Ansell fought with 27-year-old Jacob Brown following he held a knife to the neck of his partner Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the policemen and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a motorist subsequent to a traffic accident in the area in summer 2023.
Brown knifed and cut the two Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stunned him with a electric weapon.
"Policeman knifed," PC Wolstencroft was heard to say over his radio.
Bodyworn and vehicle camera recording shared by the force depicted Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing with a hood covering head, rush to Sgt Foster from the rear with a blade pointed forward.
He ran into the officer who lost balance and went down to the pavement, after which Sergeant Ansell intervened and tried to wrestle him to the floor despite being repeatedly struck with the weapon.
Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and sought a open target, ending the fight to an finish.
Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "Can I get something on my throat now, I got knifed in the throat."
Sgt Ansell suffered multiple open wounds to his neck and more injuries to his limbs and torso, while Sergeant Foster experienced knife wounds.
Authorities reported Sergeant Foster utilized his palms to control his colleague's hemorrhaging before emergency responders reached the scene.
The latest award arrives subsequent to the trio of policemen received organizational Courage Honors in fall 2023 and the police federation award from the regional officer association in spring 2024.
They were also awarded a Area Valor Recognition in summer 2024.
"The actions of each policeman ultimately protected one another and meant no members of the public endured any wounds."
Brown received a sentence to an secure medical confinement in April 2024, as stated by authorities.
